EMPOWERED FOR THE PEOPLE

The quality of power is not strained,

but is a gentle drop of the divine

into the heart of man who exults thereby

in the presence of God in him.

He is the one true substantial Tenderness

that calls his creatures to dwell in him

by abiding in his love,

manifest in the driving desire

to accomplish the good for all.

In him who wants for nothing,

being pure act, resides the power and the glory eternally,

and anyone who enters freely into this Sweetness

is instinct with the divine fragrance

which he cannot but radiate

to the world of men, women, and children,

empowering them in turn to spread

that inextinguishable Tenderness,

so that mind and matter are restored

to the creation’s original harmony

of goodness and love,

elevated by the incarnational flourishing

of the peoples.

In Jesus Christ is the focus of that “dunamis”

whose distinguishing character is love in act.

There is no other access to him, save this;

that is, to permit oneself to be served by him.

Nothing great he puts before us to achieve,

but to love him, to love one another for him,

and to bear witness to his love when the time comes.
